Merry & Bright Christmas Tree Company

Project Introduction:

Merry & Bright is a conceptual company specializing in selling artificial Christmas trees in all shapes, sizes, and colors. They also sell Christmas wreaths, lights, interior and exterior decor, ornaments and more.

They believe that one of the most memorable Christmas activities that brings and bonds family and friends together is the act of lighting and decorating a Christmas tree, which forms the core values of the company inside and out.

This project was inspired by my family’s search for a new Christmas tree during Christmas of 2024

Inspiration, Research, & Sketching

One of the most important things that I felt a Christmas company of any kind should reflect is a respect and love for nostalgia and childhood memories of Christmas. This company’s desired voice is a friendly, comforting, and loving one. Their mission is to help bring families and friends together to shop for the perfect Christmas tree or holiday decor, and fulfil the company vision of creating invaluable memories in both the journey of finding a tree, and decorating that tree together.

As a way to create this fondness for times long gone, I turned this project into a style study of graphic design and illustration trends for holiday ads, Christmas cards, and layouts from the 1940’s and 50’s. This allowed me to experiment with using a wide range of fonts, colorful icons, and witty, fun, and charming taglines, slogans, and mottos.

The Logo:

Since I love to make bespoke wordmarks, I decided to make a custom gothic style wordmark, which would be more legible than a script font

I experimented with red and green color palettes, ultimately choosing to go with the festive red option

The Christmas Tree Icon

I became inspired by hand illustrated Christmas trees I found in vintage Christmas cards and advertisements, creating a design that reflected the charm and softness of these illustrations.

I put together a brand guide booklet designed to help teams understand how to implement the brand in every moment of their experience

I then paired these visual elements together across print and digital materials

Finally, I created branded gift cards with a $100 minimum, due to the costs of most Christmas decorations. Shopping for Christmas decor isn’t cheap, so they have gift cards as options to be sold in various stores such as Kroger locations as gifts for one another!
